The Welsh Government has recently (November 2011) announced an extension to the Clwydian Range AONB to include the Dee Valley around Llangollen. This is the first change to an AONB for over twenty five years. TACP undertook one of the assessment studies for the proposed extension. This tested the proposals against the updated LANDMAP data for the area within the context of the definition of "natural beauty" used by the Countryside Council for Wales. The study identified a number of areas warranting consideration for inclusion within the AONB which have been confirmed in this new designation.
