TACP was commissioned by the Welsh Development Agency for the design of this unique multi-million pound facility. The two-storey building of 72,000 sq ft floor area is situated in a parkland setting and takes advantage of the site topography, views and natural features, including a lake. The contemporary style draws inspiration from the nature of the technology-based activities within the building, and acts as a dynamic element within the natural parkland setting.
The facility houses leading-edge computer technology, and will be a major centre where technology-based companies can develop systems in association with university based academics. As well as teaching, training and lecture spaces, a major area of the building comprises software hotels for visiting companies, incubator units, laboratories and a virtual reality suite.
