Client: Welsh Development Agency
TACP was commissioned by the Welsh Development Agency, in conjunction with the University of Wales (Bangor), for the design for this unique multi-million pound facility. The two storey building of 72,000 sq ft floor area is situated in a parkland setting and takes advantage of the site topography, views and natural features, including a lake. The contemporary style draws inspiration from the nature of the technology-based activities within the building, and will act as a dynamic element within the natural parkland setting.
The facility houses leading-edge computer technology, and will be a major centre where technology-based companies can develop systems in association with university based academics. As well as teaching, training and lecture spaces, a major area of the building comprises software hotels for visiting companies, incubator units, laboratories and a virtual reality suite.
TACP Interiors became involved at the outset of this project, developing the spatial relationships of the project with the client, and taking into account the spectacular setting and views. The unique requirements of the building have created a series of dynamic spaces that have been further enhanced by the use of colour and dramatic lighting effects.
