Client: University of Wolverhampton
The new sports facility and elite judo training centre at the Walsall Campus provides unique facilities to support international level judo players whilst supporting the educational needs of the University.
The project incorporates a large sports hall designed to Sport England requirements that can be used as three separate arenas. Conditioning and training rooms are provided as is all necessary ancillary accommodation. The project forms the impetus for the Walsall Campus master plan and requires the replacement of the existing synthetic pitch and new athletics facilities including 400m training track and remote throw facilities.
TACP Interiors worked in conjunction with the Project Architect to develop a harmonious combination of Architecture and Interior Design. Dynamic spaces in the public areas act as a prelude to the vast sports hall, with its single span vaulted roof. The colour scheme was carefully developed to comply with sporting guidelines and, in certain areas, add a highlight to enhance the ambience.
