Landmap

Client: Countryside Council for Wales

TACP was commissioned to act as co-ordinating consultant for one of three pilot studies testing LANDMAP - an innovative landscape assessment and decision making process for Wales. The study involved the co-ordination of information received from a number of aspect specialists in order to produce landscape policy areas, tolerance assessments and appropriate management strategies.  In addition, indicative development policies, design and management guidelines were drafted.

A Local Steering Group consisting of representatives of the local authority, statutory organisations and the local community guided the pilot study. An evaluation of the Landmap process assisted in the production of a handbook as guidance for those carrying out similar assessments throughout Wales.
