Thompson Street Footbridge

Client: Parsons Brinckerhoff/Vale of Glamorgan Council
Design development of a major pedestrian/cycleway gateway to Barry Waterfront. The landmark bridge will link Barry’s town centre to its vibrant redeveloped dockside area.
The bridge creates an important strategic connection between the new residential development and the historic town centre, over the existing rail corridor.
The commission includes design input to the north and south abutments; provision of advice and specifications for surface finishes and parapet design; identification of opportunities and development of ‘brief’ proposals for artworks. TACP has also designed all soft landscape proposals for the spiral earth formed southern abutment.
