Client: Associated British Ports
In 1996 TACP won a commission to work with the Associate British Ports and Welsh Development Agency Joint Initiative, to establish a landscape framework that would contribute to the promotion of development plots at Barry Waterfront. TACP were landscape advisers and landscape architects for the Barry Dock No 1 reclamation scheme which included site clearance, remediation of contamination, facilitation of a site waste disposal area and re-profiling to form new development areas.
The ten-year commission, which is now complete, has included the landscape design of a major gateway entrance, public park, waterfront open spaces and highway landscape infrastructure. The phased design and implementation has included the re-use of reclaimed stonework from the original railway abutments within the park areas, and roundabouts to provide integral features. The design commission has also included paving, railings, retaining structures, seating, lighting, planting and restoration of a listed statue.
